On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, KETK reported that Judge Milton K. Adams, the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 4 in Henderson County, Texas, will retire at the end of his current term.

Adams announced his retirement on Tuesday, marking the conclusion of over 47 years of service in the criminal justice system of East Texas. His career includes more than three decades spent on the bench as a Justice of the Peace. Judge Adams stated that 2026 would be his 32nd and final year serving Henderson County. His term officially ends on January 1, 2027.

In his announcement, Judge Adams expressed his gratitude to the Henderson County area for the opportunity to serve the community. He encouraged residents to become informed about the candidates vying for his position in the upcoming election, emphasizing the enduring significance of the Justice of the Peace court.

Adams highlighted the often-overlooked role of the Justice of the Peace, noting that it is a State Judge position and is designated in the Texas Constitution as a ‘Conservator of the Peace.’ He acknowledged the challenges inherent in the position.
