On Wednesday, January 7, 2026, 8 News Now reported that Michele Fiore, the Pahrump Justice of the Peace, declared her candidacy for re-election despite her ongoing suspension.

Fiore, who does not have a law degree, announced her decision on Facebook, emphasizing her commitment to courage, principle, and the people’s right to choose their leaders.

Fiore’s career in Nevada politics began in 2012 when she was first elected as a Republican assemblywoman. She subsequently served as Las Vegas mayor pro tem and pursued unsuccessful campaigns for governor and treasurer, also as a Republican. In late 2022, she was appointed as a judge by Nye County Commissioners. In June 2024, voters re-elected her to the position of Justice of the Peace before her federal indictment.

In October 2024, Fiore was found guilty by a jury on one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and six counts of wire fraud. The charges stemmed from allegations that she misappropriated funds intended for memorials for fallen police officers, using the money for personal expenses instead.

Despite the conviction, Fiore received a pardon from former President Trump in April of last year. However, she remains suspended from her judicial duties by the Nevada Committee on Judicial Ethics. Fiore has appealed this suspension to the Nevada Supreme Court.

The primary election is scheduled for June 9.
