On Monday, March 16, 2026, KX News reported that North Dakota Judge Steven Lautt recused himself from the Souris Valley Bowman Club theft case.
According to the report, the case involving Nichole and Dallas Rice will be reassigned to another judge.
The Rices face felony charges of conspiracy to commit theft and theft, accused of misappropriating over $180,000 from the Souris Valley Bowman Club while serving on its board.
The recusal order was filed on Monday with presiding Judge Gary Lee.
The North Dakota Attorney General’s Office is prosecuting the case. Nichole and Dallas Rice are scheduled to appear in court on April 7 for their initial hearing.
