On Monday, March 3, 2025, KNWA reported that a judge from Washington County, Arkansas, announced her retirement, prompting an immediate appointment by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Judge Stacey Zimmerman, who served in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, Division 3, officially retired on February 28, with her retirement taking effect on March 1.
In response to Judge Zimmerman’s departure, Governor Sanders appointed Dawn Egan as her successor. Egan brings extensive experience to the role, having served as an attorney ad litem in Washington and Madison Counties for the past 14 years. During her tenure, she represented nearly 5,000 children in cases involving abuse and neglect.
Before her role as an attorney ad litem, Egan worked as a juvenile prosecuting attorney in Washington County for six years. Governor Sanders expressed confidence in Egan’s qualifications, highlighting her commitment to serving vulnerable populations, particularly children.
Egan officially assumed her new position on March 1, 2025, and her term is set to conclude on December 31, 2026. The transition marks a significant change in the Fourth Judicial Circuit, with Egan expected to continue the work of her predecessor in addressing critical legal issues within the community.
