On Tuesday, May 13, 2025, CBS12 News reported that Florida Judge Brett Waronicki resigned from his role in the 19th Judicial Circuit Court after his arrest on charges of driving under the influence and possessing drug paraphernalia.
The resignation, effective last Friday, was confirmed by the 19th District Chief Deputy Court Administrator. Waronicki’s name has been removed from the court’s website, reflecting the significant impact of the allegations.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Waronicki on April 23 during a traffic stop in Jensen Beach. He was driving a pickup truck with two passengers, Wendy Ditroia and Christopher Greenman, both charged with cocaine possession. Authorities had been observing Waronicki following a tip about his alleged drug-related activities at a local bar.
During the stop, deputies noted signs of intoxication, including bloodshot eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of alcohol. Waronicki declined field sobriety tests and denied any misconduct. A search of his wallet revealed cocaine residue, and additional residue was found at his residence.
Trial Court Administrator Patty Harris announced that all cases previously assigned to Waronicki have been reassigned to a temporary judge for rehearing. The 19th Judicial Circuit Court, which serves St. Lucie County and parts of Indian River County, is navigating the repercussions of Waronicki’s departure amid the ongoing legal proceedings.
