Fulton County Superior Court has announced the retirement of Judge Jane C. Barwick, marking the end of her distinguished tenure on the superior court bench. After dedicating more than a decade to serving the Fulton County community, Judge Barwick is transitioning to a new chapter that includes more personal time.

Her retirement plans involve exchanging the demands of a busy court schedule for more leisurely pursuits. These include spending quality time with her two dogs, Watson and Gracie, attending Georgia Bulldogs games in Athens, and enjoying extended family time.

Before Judge Barwick’s departure, fellow judges, court staff, and friends organized a surprise farewell celebration. Judge Kelly Lee Ellerbe spearheaded the retirement party, cleverly disguising it as a last-minute adoption hearing. Upon Judge Barwick’s arrival in Courtroom 8A, the gathering transformed into a heartfelt tribute, complete with applause and a congratulatory cake, honoring her commitment and service.

Chief Judge Ural Glanville expressed his appreciation, stating, “It’s been an honor to be your colleague. You have well served the citizens of Fulton County. I’m going to miss you. We’re all going to miss you.” Judge Ellerbe also shared her sentiments, noting, “Judge Barwick embodies what it means to be a public servant. She cares greatly for people, and it shows in everything she does. I’ll miss you dearly.”

Judge Barwick concluded the celebration with an emotional farewell, saying, “This is like home, and I’m going to miss you all so much. Please take care of yourselves. I love you.”
