On Monday, February 2, 2026, News 4 reported that Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo will appoint a new judge to the Second Judicial District Court following the retirement of Judge Bridget Robb.
Robb’s departure from Department 13 occurred on February 6, amidst a stalking investigation involving her and a local attorney, as confirmed by Reno police. Authorities are currently reviewing evidence, but no criminal charges have been filed at this time.
The Commission on Judicial Selection has initiated the application process to fill the vacancy left by Robb. The deadline for candidates to submit their applications is February 25 at noon, and they must contact Margarita Bautista at [email protected].
According to Nevada’s judicial vacancy procedure, the commission will present Governor Lombardo with a list of three nominees. The governor will then select one individual to serve until the next general election. Typically, an appointed judge would need to participate in that election to continue their service beyond the interim period.
However, due to the candidate filing period for judicial elections already closing between January 5 and 16, any judge appointed at this time will not be eligible to appear on the November 2026 ballot. This means that the interim appointee will serve through the election cycle but cannot run in that election to retain the seat.
The Commission on Judicial Selection will review applications and nominate finalists for Lombardo’s appointment, with the goal of keeping the court functioning while the judicial selection and election calendar unfolds. The appointment is intended to maintain the court’s operations during the judicial selection and election processes.
