On Thursday, October 31, 2024, WMUR reported that Justice Anna Barbara Hantz Marconi of the New Hampshire Supreme Court has agreed to a suspension of her right to practice law in the state. This decision comes amid felony charges she is currently facing, and the suspension will remain in effect while she is on administrative leave.

Hantz Marconi was indicted on seven counts, which include serious felony offenses such as attempting to commit improper influence and criminal solicitation of improper influence. Additionally, she faces misdemeanor charges that involve solicitation related to misuse of her official position, official oppression, and obstructing government administration. These charges stem from allegations that she attempted to leverage her relationship with Governor Chris Sununu to influence a criminal investigation concerning her husband, Geno Marconi, who serves as the New Hampshire Port Authority Director.

Since July, Hantz Marconi has been on leave since July. Her attorney has stated that Hantz Marconi did not engage in any criminal activity.
