On Tuesday, March 17, 2026, the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct announced that Kevin E. Fiske, a Justice of the Stockholm Town Court in St. Lawrence County, resigned from his position following multiple charges of misconduct.

Fiske’s resignation comes after he was accused of several violations, including engaging in unauthorized ex parte communications, dismissing cases without proper notification or consent from the prosecution, and posting biased content on his public Facebook page. He also allegedly used his judicial office to promote his private business interests. As part of his resignation, Fiske has agreed never to seek a return to the bench.

The formal disciplinary charges against Fiske were served in December 2025. The charges stem from nine instances where Fiske allegedly engaged in unauthorized conversations with defendants, subsequently dismissing or reducing charges without informing or obtaining consent from the prosecution. In one case, Fiske stated on record, “And, I’m on the record- I’ll probably get in trouble for that but, I don’t care. What are they going to do to me, right?”

Additionally, Fiske is accused of posting inappropriate content on his public Facebook page, which demonstrated bias against transgender individuals and denigrated the law. Examples cited include posts such as, “Teach your daughters to shoot because a restraining order is just a piece of paper,” and “Laws do not stop evil men. Good men stop evil men.”

The Commission also noted that Fiske included descriptions of his two private businesses on the official Stockholm Town Court website and repeatedly referenced his judicial position on his business’s Facebook page.

Fiske waived the confidentiality provisions to allow the stipulation and the Commission’s order accepting it to be made public.

According to the Commission Administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian, public confidence in the court system is undermined when a judge hears only one side of a case, endorses vigilantism, or mixes official and personal business.

Judge Fiske, who is not an attorney, has served as a Justice of the Stockholm Town Court since April 2023. His current term would have expired on December 31, 2027.
