On Tuesday, April 14, 2026, Sterling Robinson filed a complaint for a writ of prohibition in the Ohio Supreme Court against Judge Jaiza N. Page. Robinso is currently incarcerated at the Madison Correctional Institution in London, Ohio.

Robinson’s complaint alleges that Judge Page exceeded her jurisdiction in his criminal case by entering a judgment after Robinson had terminated his consent. He argues that this action violated the separation-of-powers doctrine. Robinson seeks to prohibit Judge Page from exercising further jurisdiction to enforce the judgment.

The case stems from a 2018 indictment in Franklin County, Ohio, where Robinson was charged with two counts of trafficking in drugs. In August 2019, he proceeded to a jury trial against his consent and was found guilty on one count and not guilty on the other. On September 17, 2019, Robinson appeared before Judge Page for sentencing.

During the sentencing hearing, Robinson claims he gave the court notice of his termination of consent to the judgment before it was pronounced. Despite this, Judge Page sentenced him to a mandatory 11-year prison term.

Robinson argues that his timely withdrawal of consent divested the court of jurisdiction to proceed. He cites several Ohio Supreme Court cases to support his claim that a party has the right to withdraw consent before a final judgment is rendered.

In his complaint, Robinson requests an immediate discharge from custody, arguing that he rightfully exercised his right to withdraw and terminate his consent before the judgment. He also requests an alternative writ if the court declines to grant the first request and any other relief to which he may be entitled.
