On Friday, May 2, 2025, the Nevada Commission on Judicial Discipline filed a notice announcing its intent to hold a public hearing to review the suspension of Pahrump Justice of the Peace Michele Fiore.
The hearing, scheduled for May 9, 2025, at 12:00 p.m., will address the commission’s April 14, 2025, order that suspended Fiore without salary and consider whether to suspend her with salary. The decision follows Fiore’s receipt of a presidential pardon from President Donald Trump, which raises questions about the validity of her ongoing suspension.
Fiore was found guilty in October 2024 of conspiracy and wire fraud charges in a federal case, United States v. Michele Fiore (2:24-cr-155). The charges stemmed from her actions as a Las Vegas councilwoman, where prosecutors alleged she misused funds intended for a statue honoring fallen Las Vegas police officer Alyn Beck. The funds were reportedly used for personal expenses, including rent and cosmetic procedures. Following her indictment, the commission suspended Fiore with pay, but after her conviction, her salary was revoked.
The presidential pardon, granted last month before Fiore’s sentencing, led her to anticipate a return to her judicial role. In a statement, she expressed confidence in resuming her duties, asserting her position as the elected justice of the peace. However, the commission’s notice indicates that her suspension remains in effect, and the upcoming hearing will evaluate whether the original suspension order is still justified in light of the pardon. If the commission determines the prior suspension is no longer warranted, it will assess whether Fiore’s continued service poses a significant risk to the public or the administration of justice.
The hearing will be conducted virtually via Zoom, with public access provided through a live YouTube stream.
