On Thursday, July 25, 2024, Hot 97 reported that rapper 50 Cent called for the ousting of New York Supreme Court Justice Erin Gall after she was heard on police bodycam footage threatening to shoot uninvited Black teenagers at a graduation party.
Video emerged last week showing Judge Gall clashing with a group of Black teens in 2022 when fights broke out between partygoers at her friend’s house. In the footage, Gall is heard endorsing gun violence against the teens and saying she would personally shoot them if they trespassed on the property.
The judge also made racially offensive remarks in the interaction captured on video. Gall vowed to the teens she would throw away any keys they lost during the altercation and insisted they call an Uber to leave rather than find their belongings. She also belittled their intelligence.
50 Cent shared the clip on his Instagram, calling for Gall to be removed from her position on the New York Supreme Court. He argued her behavior was unacceptable and reposted the video to further spread awareness of the incident.
Furthermore, the State Commission on Judicial Conduct released a report concluding Gall’s actions “created at least the appearance of racial bias.” They strongly criticized her misconduct as severely undermining public trust in her ability to serve as a fair and impartial judge.
Commission administrator Robert H. Tembeckjian similarly condemned Gall’s behavior, describing it as “appalling” and something he had never seen in 40 years of enforcing judicial ethics. His statement emphasized just how shocking and inappropriate the judge’s threats and racial comments toward the Black teenagers were.
