On Friday, April 10, 2026, News4SA reported that suspended Bexar County Judge Rosie Speedlin-Gonzalez made her first court appearance following her indictment in January on charges of official oppression and unlawful restraint.

Speedlin-Gonzalez, who presides over Bexar County Court-at-Law No. 13, was indicted on two counts stemming from an alleged incident in December 2024. The indictment claims that Speedlin-Gonzalez, while acting in her official capacity, unlawfully restrained an individual by restricting their movements without consent.

As a result of the indictment, Speedlin-Gonzalez has been suspended without pay. She also lost her re-election bid in last month’s primary. The suspension will remain in effect pending the dismissal of the charges or an acquittal.

Speedlin-Gonzalez oversees the Reflejo Court, a court established to reduce domestic violence cases. Following her suspension, her caseload has been reassigned to a judge from Goliad County.
