On Friday, February 7, 2025, Click 2 Houston reported that another judge stepped down from the case involving Taral Patel, a candidate for Fort Bend County commissioner in the November 2024 election.

Patel, who lost the election to Andy Meyers by a significant margin, is currently facing serious allegations, including the creation of fake online accounts, impersonating officials, and posting racist comments against himself to gain sympathy from voters.

Judge Christian Becerra of the 434th District Court has recused himself from the case, a decision confirmed by the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office. The case will now be managed by Judge Christi Kennedy, a retired senior judge from Tyler, Texas. This change follows the earlier removal of Fort Bend County Judge Surendran Patel, who was also allegedly impersonated by Taral Patel online.

Currently, Taral Patel is confronted with nine felony and misdemeanor charges linked to these allegations. Additionally, Fort Bend County Judge KP George, who previously employed Taral Patel, has been charged with a misdemeanor for allegedly faking his identity online.
