On Tuesday, July 22, 2025, the New Jersey Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct filed a complaint against Gary M. Price, a part-time municipal judge in Edison, following a DWI arrest that occurred in July 2024.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Judge Gary M. Price,” with case number ACJC 2024-518.
Price was involved in a single-car accident on July 5, 2024, when he struck a guardrail. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, officers detected the smell of alcohol on Price’s breath, prompting field sobriety tests, which included a request for him to recite the alphabet from D to W.
After failing the sobriety test, a blood test conducted two hours post-accident indicated that Price’s blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. Although the DWI charge was eventually dismissed, Price consented to install an ignition interlock device in his vehicle for a period of three months. Additionally, he pleaded guilty to reckless driving and paid a fine of $50.
The complaint from the Advisory Committee alleges that Price misrepresented his actions to both law enforcement and the committee itself, claiming that he “impugned the integrity of the Judiciary.” The committee contends that Price did not accurately disclose the amount of alcohol he consumed at the Seasons 52 restaurant in Edison.
A receipt from that day indicated that Price ordered four alcoholic beverages, including two Bombay Sapphire martinis and two vodka Cucumber Basil Smash drinks, contradicting his assertion that he only had one martini.
Furthermore, the ACJC noted that Price failed to provide an itemized receipt from Seasons 52 despite repeated requests, which they argue constitutes a violation of judicial conduct rules by not cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
