On Friday, December 6, 2024, WEHT reported that a judge has stepped down from overseeing the case involving Warrick County Commissioner Terry Phillipe, who, along with fellow commissioners Dan Saylor and Robert Johnson Jr., faces charges of official misconduct and false informing.
Judge Brett Roy announced his recusal from the trial concerning Phillipe, although he will continue to preside over the cases of Saylor and Johnson.
This marks the first court appearance for the three commissioners following the November elections, in which Saylor and Johnson were defeated in their bids for re-election. Phillipe, whose position was not part of the election cycle, is scheduled to appear in court again on January 10, 2025. Meanwhile, Saylor and Johnson’s next court date is set for February 28, 2025.
The charges against the commissioners stem from allegations of misconduct while in office, raising concerns about their actions during their tenure.
