On Monday, July 7, 2025, the New Jersey Supreme Court reprimanded Clark Township Municipal Judge Antonio Inacio for ethical violations stemming from his actions as an attorney.
The case is entitled “In the Matter of Judge Antonio Inacio,” with case number 090585.
The court found that Inacio breached two rules of professional conduct in a divorce-related case. He failed to provide a client with a written fee agreement and forged the client’s signature on an amended qualified domestic relations order without authorization. Additionally, Inacio falsely certified that the client had appeared before him and sworn to the signature.
Inacio, who has served as a part-time municipal judge in Clark Township since 1994 while maintaining a private law practice, admitted to the misconduct. The Disciplinary Review Board (DRB), in its April 2025 decision, recommended the reprimand, noting that Inacio’s client suffered no harm and that he acknowledged his wrongdoing. However, the DRB raised concerns about potential misrepresentations Inacio made to disciplinary authorities regarding his violations.
Inacio, admitted to the New Jersey bar in 1985, was reprimanded in 2015 for representing a Garwood Borough councilman in a private capacity while serving as a Garwood municipal court judge. In that instance, he also improperly requested that the Juvenile Conference Committee reconsider a requirement for the councilman’s daughter to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings after her arrest for underage alcohol possession.
