On Friday, April 5, 2024, abc13 reported that Mei Wolfe, wife of Harris County Justice of the Peace Bob Wolfe, had been charged with murder after allegedly shooting and killing her nephew during a fight at their home.

The incident occurred on Thursday night at around 9:20 pm in the 24300 block of Tesino River Circle in West Harris County. According to officials with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, there were four adults in the home at the time – Mei Wolfe, her husband Bob Wolfe, their nephew, and Mei’s daughter. An argument is said to have broken out between Mei Wolfe and her nephew. During the dispute, Mei allegedly grabbed a pistol and fired a shot, hitting her nephew.

Bob Wolfe, who was also present, called 911 to report the shooting. He then attempted to stop his wife from firing further rounds. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene but were unable to revive the victim, and he was declared dead after their arrival. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the deceased nephew as a recent college graduate who had been staying with his aunt and uncle while traveling. Gonzalez speculated that Mei Wolfe may have felt her nephew was overstaying his welcome in their home, leading to the altercation.

Mei Huang Wolfe, aged 48, now faces a first-degree felony murder charge for her nephew’s death. Her husband Bob Wolfe, a sitting Harris County Justice of the Peace, was home during the shooting but has not been accused of any wrongdoing. Officials did not release the name of the deceased nephew, as the investigation remains ongoing. The Sheriff’s Office noted that family and domestic violence incidents had been on the rise in the area, resulting in prior shootings between intimate partners and family members.
