On Thursday, March 19, 2026, KSNV News 3 Las Vegas reported that attorneys representing Vaughn Griffith, a Las Vegas teenager charged as an adult in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving students from The Alexander Dawson School at Rainbow Mountain, are seeking to disqualify Judge Christy Craig from the case.

A motion filed on March 17 in Clark County District Court alleges that Judge Craig’s courtroom statements demonstrate bias, potentially jeopardizing Griffith’s right to a fair trial.

Griffith and another teen, Dominic Kim, are facing charges as adults for possession of a visual presentation depicting sexual conduct of a child, stemming from an alleged assault of a student in Costa Rica.

The defense’s motion highlights statements made by Judge Craig during a hearing on March 12, suggesting she had already formed opinions regarding the case’s outcome. Specifically, the motion cites remarks indicating that even if the defense successfully challenged the juvenile court certification, the final result would remain unchanged.

Furthermore, the motion references an unresolved issue in juvenile court, where the defense is pursuing relief related to a potential conflict involving the judge who initially certified Griffith for adult prosecution. Attorneys have requested a temporary suspension of the district court proceedings until the juvenile court matter is resolved.

A hearing to address the motion for Judge Craig’s disqualification is scheduled for April 9.
