On Monday, April 7, 2025, NBC 6 reported that Broward County Circuit Judge Stefanie Moon may face disciplinary action due to political contributions. The Florida Supreme Court is considering a recommendation for a public reprimand from the state Judicial Qualifications Commission, which has already flagged Moon for two prior allegations.

The commission’s earlier findings indicated that Judge Moon improperly reminded an attorney in court about a missed phone call related to her re-election campaign and made inappropriate contact with a therapist involved in a case concerning a party’s mental health. These actions have prompted scrutiny regarding her conduct as a judicial officer.

In addition to these allegations, recent documents filed by the commission allege that Judge Moon violated judicial canons by making political contributions to various political entities. Notably, she contributed to committees supporting former Democratic presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, as well as to ActBlue, a fundraising organization for the Democratic Party.

As part of a settlement reached between the commission and Moon, it has been proposed that she receive a public reprimand and pay a fine of $2,115, which corresponds to the total amount of her political contributions. The commission believes that this action will serve as a deterrent against similar misconduct in the future and will remind other judicial candidates of the importance of maintaining the integrity of judicial elections by avoiding inappropriate campaign activities.

The ultimate decision regarding any disciplinary measures will be made by the Florida Supreme Court.
