Nevada Governor Appoints Colleen Brown to Replace Judge Erika Ballou on Clark County District Court
On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Governor Joe Lombardo appointed Colleen Brown to the Clark County District Court, Department 24.
This judicial seat was previously held by Judge Erika Ballou, who resigned from the bench in May 2026.
Brown, a seasoned prosecutor currently leading the major fraud and elder abuse unit in the Clark County District Attorney's Office, will officially begin her appointment on June 29, 2026.
Governor Lombardo expressed confidence in Brown's extensive legal career, highlighting her public service, leadership, and courtroom advocacy. He noted her comprehensive understanding of Nevada's criminal justice system, gained through experience across various divisions.
Judge Ballou's departure followed a period of controversy, including a six-month suspension without pay in September 2025 for defying a Nevada Supreme Court order by releasing a prisoner against the court's reversal of her decision.
